ANYONE CAN HELP A MIFILE SUBSCRIBER, WHETHER TO OFFER ASSISTANCE IN AN EMERGENCY OR TO RETURN A LOST ITEM OR PET.
SIMPLY WEAR YOUR UNIQUE MIFILE ID NUMBER ON YOU AND IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO SPEAK FOR YOURSELF, THE PERSON HELPING CAN CHECK ONLINE TO NOTIFY UP TO TWO OF YOUR KEY CONTACTS BY SMS NOTIFICATION.
ALTERNATIVELY, IF THEY FIND YOUR ID NUMBER ON AN ITEM OR PET, THEY CAN SEND YOU AN EMAIL MESSAGE TO HELP REUNITE YOU.
HELPING IN AN EMERGENCY
Wearing your MiFile ID makes it much easier for someone – anyone – to assist you in an emergency. Most people carry the ID in their wallet, purse or on some item of jewellery on them. Make sure you include ‘MiFile.net’ with the ID number, so that people know how to access the information that you have chosen to share.
Privacy & Security
We only share information that you choose to make private – which does not include your name, email or mobile number. Securing your privacy is a key part of the service.
The information includes your age, gender and country of residence – this is to help someone make sure that the correct person is wearing or carrying the ID.
Medication, Allergies and Care Wishes
You are able to share your medication information, allergies and care wishes; allowing for the best care in the event that you cannot speak for yourself.
If you have a serious allergy or medical condition, we strongly suggest that you include one of the medical symbols on the device you choose to wear with your MiFile ID. This will help draw attention to the urgency of considering your allergy or medication as part of your treatment.
Notifying your key contacts
Each subscription allows you to nominate two key contacts who can be notified by SMS in the event of an emergency. You will also receive a copy of the notification via email, so that you can let your friends and family know if you are in a stable condition.
Sharing your number
Once you have your unique MiFile ID simply decide how you want to keep it on you. Some people have it printed out or written on a card in their wallet or purse, others have it engraved on an item of jewellery. You can also choose to show it as your screen lock on your mobile phone.
The main thing is that you have it on you as much as possible – as you never know when an accident could happen.
Also make sure that in addition to your ID, you have ‘MiFile.net’ clearly shown so people know where to go to help you.
RETURNING A LOST ITEM OR PET
You can use your MiFile ID on any asset or pet that you wish to associate with your account. This could be your bike, mobile phone or luggage – anything of value to you.
Anyone checking a valid ID will be provided with a drop-down set of options based on which items you have chosen to associate with your MiFile ID. They can then send a message to your email account to let you know if your item has been found.
Sharing your number
It is important that people can quickly and easily find your unique MiFile ID when they’re looking for it. Ideally you should have it written on a card or sticker with a short message, for example:
“If found, please check MiFile.net with ID AB-1234567-Z. Thank you!”
This makes it very clear to anyone trying to reunite you with your lost luggage, your bike or your dog.
